6 Month Baby Girl

Happy Sunday everyone! Wow, it has been a while since our last post, but needless to say, we have been very busy :)

I have been back at work full time now for the past two months and have been adjusting to the life of a working mom- it is tough and rewarding at the same time.

Vovo' Laura has been here for the past two weeks and what a difference she has made- Allie loves Vovo' Laura :) What a blessing to have her stay with us for the next four months. The two of them spend their days together playing and Grandma Laura makes Allie work on her rolling and sitting up- it is tough work being this cute.

We went to her 6 month pediatrician appointment, and she is in the 50 percentile for her weight, 27 percentile for height and 98 percentile for her head circumference - smart little one I tell you :) The doctor also gave us the green light to start her on solids, and Bryan and I had decided that we were going to be making Allie baby food.

We started her on green beans, and since then she has had sweet potatoes, peas and butternut squash in addition to green beans. Grandma and I have been going to the market to pick fresh organic veggies to make the best possible foods for this little one. She was not a big fan of the green beans but loved sweet potatoes and the squash. We used the bumbo Grandma Tina brought during her last visit, but little girl is growing too fast and we bought her a high chair today :)

She is enjoying her new Ikea high chair, and loves sitting up like a big girl.

She is still waking up once or twice a night, but doctor says it is normal and she will sleep through the night eventually.

She is talking a lot- a lot- these days, and throwing raspberries and making all kinds of cute sounds, it seems like there are brand new noises every day. She is also laughing a lot- she is such a happy baby, always smiling.

She has also been wearing her little KC Chiefs cheerleader outfit every Sunday for the past 5 weeks and- what do you know- the Chiefs are 5-0!! She is a good luck charm and loves watching football with dad :)

Next month is Vovo' Laura's big birthday celebration and Auntie Livia will be visiting for a longer time this time- she will be staying for three weeks! It will also be Halloween, and we are still deciding what to dress Allie up for her first Halloween- but fear not, whatever outfit, she is sure to look cute in it :)

Auntie Livia takes amazing photos and here is one that she took while she was here in June- Grandma Laura brought it with her from Brasil :) We are all looking forward to the new pictures she will take when she arrives in November.

We will try to post more often here at the blog- there are just way too many pictures to share of our beautiful girl and we need to be better about it.

Much love to you all,
Have a great week

5 month baby!

Hope everyone is well. It's been too long since a post, but obviously our hands have been "full."  Full of cute baby that is.

It has been a beautiful summer and we're enjoying it with Ms. Allie. She is constant smiles these days.

Thais went back to work full time last week and we're still adjusting. Allie is doing very well in daycare, but of course we both miss her during the day.

The summer has been full of visits and a few trips. We made it to Southern Oregon in late July and that was an adventure. We were lucky that Allie slept in the care the whole time.

Aunt Michelle also made a visit. She got the proper treatment with Oregon Ale and ribs, and of course some 'Allie-gator' time!

It's amazing how quickly little Allie is developing. She can't sit up or crawl yet, but it's only a matter of time.

One of her favorite times is bath time around 7:30. She's quite the kicker.

She really is a calm baby. There's not too much that gets her worked up. She's even a fan of the car seat!

We'll have some more pictures up next month when she turns 6 months.

16 weeks old- Almost 4 months

Good afternoon, hope everyone had a good 4th of July! We were pretty busy the last 4 weeks with Allie gal.

Allie gal hit the 14 week mark and she was up twice a night again- I guess that's what they call the 4 month wakeful period. It was a rough week getting back to being up that much.

We had professional pictures taken for the three month milestone, and Allie gal did so great :) Here are some of the pictures we got.

That following Monday, we had our first experience with a cold :( Allie had Bronchiolitis, and we went to the Emergency Room on Monday morning, 06/24. We got a humidifier, and have been watching little girl closely ever since. It has been almost three weeks, but she is doing better. Just a lingering cough now, but boy, this was tough on mama and daddy. I guess that's also part of being a parent- we need to get toughen for our kids, but it was hard seeing her with a cold :(.

On that same day, Grandpa Ronaldo arrived for a two week visit, and we have had a great visit.

Allie gal loves Grandpa, he talks to her all the time. Grandpa has also been a huge help during these last two weeks, when Allie was coughing. Mama has been using her NoseFrida nose aspirator to remove all those buggers ( look it up on Amazon, you will see what it looks like).

On Friday, Auntie Livia also arrived for a short visit- as she was in the US for work. Since she is such a great photographer, she took lots of great pictures of our little angel.

We did some great cooking, a little sightseeing and lots of relaxing at home. We cooked a nice meal for the 4th of July, and now will continue to enjoy Grandpa through next Monday.

Allie got lots of gifts from loved ones in Brazil- she is really going to be spoiled.

Love you all,
Have a great weekend

We have a roller :)

Happy Friday everyone, hope you're getting to enjoy some of these beautiful spring days we are having.

Our little Allie is doing great- Mama Rodick has found all kinds of activities to do with this little munchkin. It is nice now that the weather is beautiful out, we go for lots of strolls around the park.

I have a new mom friend, who has a four month old baby girl June, and we get together periodically. She will be a stay-at-home mom, and we talk often about the differences in the two experiences we will have.

We have gone for walks around the park, and for Baby Yoga last week. It was a nice experience. For the first time, Allie was awake during class, so I got to hold her during the Yoga poses. She is such a trooper.

Needless to say,  she is cooing quite a bit, talking up a storm. Bryan and I will leave her in the crib, turn on the mobile, and just watch all the different kinds of sounds that she makes.
We took her to church this past Sunday, and for the first time, she was awake for the service. She was talking when the pastor was not talking, as if to say " Why did you stop? :)" too funny.

She is definitely more awake and alert these days- I often have to nurse her in quiet room/space, because she will just stop eating and look around her with any little noise, it is pretty cute. She is gaining weight, weighing 12 lbs 6 oz just yesterday.

These last two weeks have been kind of quiet. We had friends over this past Saturday, and took them wine tasting. Allie and Daddy had a great time in the beautiful sunny day.

She is wearing the Tutu that Grandma gave her :)
She has so many little rolls in those cute little legs she needs to show them off.

This last week, we also went to Story time at the library, so cool to see all the other kids and have stories read out loud- priceless. We will make it a point to go every week.

And last but not least-- we have a roller! I captured it on camera, as this was the third time she had done it.

She was pretty tired after that, and did one of her favorite things: sleep on Mommy :)

Allie is two months old!! How fast it has gone by :)

Good evening! It's time for a new post, as it has been three weeks since the last one. Allie girl is almost 10 weeks old :)

She is such a great little baby. She has been only waking up once or twice per night, and even not crying very much. I usually wake up before she cries, when she first starts fussing.

Last week was a busy week for us. We celebrated Mother's Day on Sunday- daddy took the girls for Sunday brunch at Creekside, so nice. We went there after going to church. We have found a church that we really like, and have been attending service for the past three weeks.

On Monday, May 13, Allie went for her two month appointment. She is lifting her head pretty good, and taking in the view around her. She started noticing loud noises, and following voices really well. She has also started talking quite a bit. Bryan and I favorite's Saturday morning routine is to put Allie in her gym and watch her talk up a storm. It is truly such an amazing time in our lives.

But I digress- the Dr. appointment went ok- she had her first shots, and while she did really good, mama did not do so well. I cried with her, when she cried, but I had read that nursing her right after it was the best thing to do, so I made sure she was hungry right before it.

She did good- no fever, no reactions, just a bit sleepy. She was weighting 11 lbs 3 oz, and measuring 22 1/2 inches, and she is on the 50% percentile.

On Tuesday, we had a nice trip to the Zoo, with two other moms and their little boys. We had a great time, as it was a beautiful day.

She was dressed up as a little monkey :) we had a picnic, and enjoyed seeing some of the new additions to the zoo, including the baby elephant and baby monkey, Augustus.

On the way back, we stopped by Daddy's work for a quick visit. Allie started grabbing into things, like my necklace and shirt. You can really see it on the photo below, how she grabs on to Daddy's shirt.

On Wednesday, we went to a Baby Clothes consignment sale, and we got a few new outfits for baby girl. She is growing so fast, some of her outfits are not fitting her anymore. We grabbed a few items, but one of the things I was most excited about was the Mother Goose book of lullabies. Since I didn't grow up here, I don't know many lullabies in English. This little book should do the trick.

I also got Dr. Seuss's Knox in Sox. I read that for her yesterday, and boy, it was a tough tongue twister. She was laughing as I read the book, probably because she knew I was in trouble reading it fast, like any toddler would :)

On Thursday, Grandpa Dennis arrived for a visit. We went to pick him up in the airport, and had a nice visit. Grandpa spoiled Allie with a brand new outfit, and baby girl wore it to church on Sunday.

We had a nice visit, and yesterday, we went for a long walk in the park before we had to take Grandpa to the airport.

Today, we visited the Babies group again in Silverton, and Allie girl is weighing 11 lbs 8 oz. She was talking up a storm this morning, and smiling a lot. Here is a picture of one of her beautiful little smiles.

Allie continues to sleep with her arms up, as you will see from the picture below. This is one of the cute pajamas we got her from the consignment sale. We no longer need the swaddles, but we are picking up a few more pajamas here and there, like this bubblegum one :)

Love you all- fortunate to share this amazing experience with all of you,
Mama Rodick

Allie is 7 weeks old :))

Good afternoon! It has been a while since we have made a post to the blog- Allie girl has been keeping us both really busy :))

Gosh, so much has been going on, so many new discoveries each day. I am now currently "wearing" Allie as I write this post, as she is a bit fussy and always seems to calm down when I hold her and she is able to sleep on me. Amazing how smart they are and can sense these little things :) Do you think I can make a point to return to work with her on me, so to speak, since I can wear her and type at the same time? ;)

So, since we last posted: Allie has now been sleeping for 3-5 hour stretches in the beginning of the night, which makes it really nice. We go to bed around 9 p.m., and she will sleep usually until 2 a.m., then will feed, and sleep again until 5:30 a.m. or so. We then typically have a nap around lunch time, and she is nursing every two-three hours during the day, to load up on calories for the evening. It seems to be working pretty well- she is up to 11 lbs, which means she has been right on track of gaining about 1 oz per day since birth.

I have gotten into a nice routine as well. I have two Brazilian friends who have young children, and we try to arrange for one play date a week. This last week we went to Panera on Monday, and had lunch. Samia has a 18 month old boy.

I also have a friend from work, Brenda, who is home on maternity leave with a 3 month old boy, Kaden, and we have had a few play dates as well ( more for the moms at this point, but we go for nice walks, especially since the weather has been so nice here lately. Below is Allie getting ready for one of the play dates, with her little baggy denim :)

On Tuesdays, I usually go to the Breastfeeding Moms group, and through that I have met some other moms with babies the same age as Allie. It is a nice opportunity to connect and share experiences, although Allie is such a sweet baby, I feel like that annoying mom that is just always super peppy and happy. Oh well, she is just such a good baby :)

Grandma Tina- you'd be happy to know that we hit the 6 week mark, and no "real" sign of the dreaded Purple Cry. She is a bit more fussy at night, but nothing like the uncontrollable scream they all talk about. We have developed a nice routine where we give her a bath by 8 p.m., then I give her a little baby massage and then we swaddle her and Daddy rocks her to sleep. She is used to falling asleep on Daddy :)

When it comes to developmental marks, she is definitely holding her neck better now, and looking around for voices and objects with no problem. She is "talking" back to us, especially in the afternoons, when I put her in her gym. She loves her crib and the mobile that Grandma Laura gave her, and will follow around the toys when they rotate.

We have also upgraded tummy time a bit by putting her propped on the Boppy, my breastfeeding pillow, since she can see the world around her better. She is pretty content in there.

I visited the doctor last week, and she gave me the all-clear to start exercising again. I am going to go back to teaching on May 13. On my way to lose those last 10-15 lbs I gained during pregnancy.

We have also gotten into a better routine when it comes to meals. I am planning them much better now, and we're back to eating healthy meals for dinner. For a while there, we had one too many lasagnas.

I had a few visitors from work the other day, and they said everything is going smoothly at work, which is a great relief. I plan to bring her for a visit once she hits the 8 week mark. That way, if she were to get sick, we can give her regular infant medicine.

Our next pedi appointment is on May 13, when she turns two months old. She will start getting her shots then, it should be a good appointment.

That's it for now. We will try to post more often, so it is not always this loooong of a post.

Much love to all of you

Allie's a month old :))

Good morning! It's Monday morning, and our sweet little Allie celebrated her one month birthday this past Saturday, April 13th!

She is doing really good. We haven't posted updates in a while, so I figured it would be great to do a long one.

She is weighing 8 lbs 12 oz, which means she gained 2 lbs in her first month. I am still going to a breastfeeding moms group on Tuesday mornings, and they say babies her age are supposed to gain 1 oz per day, on average. She is way ( or weigh? :)) beyond that.

Her height and weight are in the 50%, and her head is on the 75% ( smart little one :))

She is holding her little head up more and more each day, up to a 45 degree angle. She can smile when we smile at her, she can get her hands clasped together, and as you will see in this picture below, she loooves to sleep with her hands up :)

She is wearing a onesie that Daddy bought for her ( look at the celebratory balloons :)).

During the last couple of days, she has gone through a growth spurt, eating hourly and at night, eating every two to three hours, when she was nursing three to four hours before.

We thought she had graduated to size 1 diapers, but she is still too big for it ( let's just say we had a couple of BAD accidents over the weekend), so we bought some more newborn diapers for her.

I have started going more places with her, and she really likes the car rides. We had lunch with Daddy last Friday, and she did really well. I tried to give her a pacifier prior to the ride to see if she would take it, but she spit it out :) So, no pacifiers for her yet.

This last weekend, we were going to try to give her a bottle ( mamadeira), but we got too busy. Experts recommend introducing a bottle between 4-6 weeks, so we will try again next weekend.

Allie spent quite a few hours this last weekend watching some golf on Daddy's comfy chest, so I think she will be a golf pro in her future.

She is really starting to notice all the toys around her, and is kicking quite a bit when we put her on her little gym.

I think Bryan and I are starting to figure out her many kinds of cries, so, we are starting to feel more and more confident as parents.

Last Friday morning, while watching the Today show, I saw this commercial, which touched me and I thought I would share it here :) good advertising.

Ok, that's all for now,
Love you all
Have a blessed week
